Texas A&M Law ranks 22nd in nation

April 17, 2025

Ft. Worth—Texas A&M University School of Law has again risen in the rankings and now stands at 22nd nationally, according to U.S. News & World Report. As it breaks into the Top 25, no law school has ever risen further or faster in the rankings.

The law school’s continued rise is not entirely surprising, given the recent achievements it reflects, including the recruitment of world-class faculty, a 100 percent employment rate for recent graduates, the highest bar passage rate in Texas for the second year in a row, and the arrival of yet another first-year class with the highest undergraduate GPA median in the nation.

Multiple specialty areas at the law school were also highly ranked, including the Aggie Dispute Resolution program, which rose to 3rd in the nation, and the Center for Law and Intellectual Property, which again ranked 6th.

John Sharp, chancellor of the Texas A&M University System, reflected on the law school’s striking rise over the past decade. Following his appointment as Chancellor in 2011, Sharp advocated for the A&M System’s acquisition of a law school.

“When I started as chancellor, my first goal was to acquire a law school for Texas A&M, but not just any law school. We wanted one with huge potential,” Sharp said. “This latest rise in rankings shows that we are accomplishing our goal, and I’m certain Texas A&M’s School of Law will be in the top ten in no time.”

Up four spots from last year, the law school remains the second highest-ranked law school in Texas just eight places behind the University of Texas.

The law school's unprecedented rise in the rankings reflects its continued commitment to academic excellence, scholarly impact, and innovation. Since joining the Texas A&M family in 2013, the law school has sought to recruit world-class faculty and students, and to develop cutting-edge programs that prepare students for the highest caliber of employment opportunity. Collectively, those efforts have made the law school a leader in higher education.

“In just 10 short years, the School of Law went from being unranked to being a Top 25 law school today. This is an incredible success story for Texas A&M University, the Texas A&M University System, and Chancellor John Sharp, who played a key role in the law school’s acquisition,” said General (Ret.) Mark A. Welsh III, president of Texas A&M.

The law school’s latest advance in the rankings adds to the growing excitement about Texas A&M-Fort Worth, the new, Tier 1 research-and-innovation campus being built around the law school, which will open its first of five new buildings in Spring 2026. The innovation campus, currently under construction, is a partnership of the Texas A&M University System, the City of Fort Worth, Tarrant County, and the business community. It will feature innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology at its core, offer a home for academic programs across multiple disciplines, and create concentric circles of industry collaboration and co-location.

"As we continue our work of recruiting top-notch scholars, attracting students not just of capacity but of character, producing impactful programs and events, generating striking graduate outcomes, and now building a transformative innovation campus, it is of course gratifying to see our progress reflected in various rankings,” said Robert B. Ahdieh, Texas A&M law dean and vice president for professional schools and programs. “But tomorrow is another day, and our work will continue. Stay tuned for more to come."
