Kinman receives Oscar Ward Scholarship

July 04, 2025

Irving—The Greater Irving Republican Club awarded Audry Kinman the Oscar Ward Scholarship of $1,000. Kinman graduated from Great Hearts Irving Upper School, a tuition-free charter school.

She has applied to and been accepted to Tarleton State University and Dallas Baptist University.

This scholarship has been awarded to high school seniors in one of Irving's public, private, charter or home schools each year since 2010. The award was named in honor of former city councilor and former Greater Irving Republican Club president, Oscar Ward, who has a passion for helping students gain access to higher education.

The scholarship provides encouragement and financial assistance to students seeking higher education and encourages the youth to be more civically and politically involved.

To compete for the scholarship, students submitted an essay relating to this year's topic, "Name three things President Trump should work on and why" and maintained a cumulative grade point average higher than 3.0.
