Police launch DWI enforcement initiative
August 29, 2025
Irving—The Irving Police Department will conduct a DWI Enforcement Initiative from Friday, Aug. 29, through Monday, Sep. 1, in conjunction with Labor Day. The goal is to help reduce daily roadway deaths in Texas.
DWI officers will focus on identifying and arresting impaired drivers. Enforcement efforts will be concentrated in high-risk areas and during peak times for impaired driving, when the risk of alcohol-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities is highest. This increased visibility is intended to serve as a warning to those considering driving while impaired.
The Irving Police Department and TxDOT remind everyone to “Plan While You Can.” Alcohol and drugs can impair judgment, decision-making, and reaction time. If you plan to drink, arrange a safe ride by using a taxi, rideshare service, designated driver, or public transportation.
If you see a suspected impaired driver and it is safe to do so, please call 9-1-1.
