Fields sentenced for second murder

Irving—Nicholas Glenn Fields was found guilty Thursday, Feb. 15, for the murder of Eduardo Hernandez Lopez. Lopez’ mummified remains were found in a wooded area in Irving, near a homeless encampment where Fields was located by police.

Fields’ was sentenced to life in prison and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine for Lopez’ murder.

At the time of his arrest, Fields was hiding from police following the murder of David Betts in Dallas on March 3, 2022.

Last year, Fields was convicted of Betts’ murder and sentenced to prison for 60 years. Fields shot and killed Betts while Betts was sleeping.

Examiners discovered the bullets found inside of Lopez’ body matched those found in David Betts’ body.

Fields’ life sentence for the murder of Lopez and 60 year sentence for the murder of Betts will be served consecutively.
