Police investigate officer-involved shooting
Irving—Officers attempted a traffic stop near E State Hwy 114 WB and Spur 482 NB on May 30 at approximately 1:40 a.m. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed for a short distance before crashing, causing the vehicle to become disabled.
During the apprehension of the vehicle’s three occupants, an officer discharged their firearm. One individual, who also has a warrant for Resisting Arrest, Search, and Transportation, was struck and transported to a local hospital and is currently being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for Evading Arrest, and the third individual was questioned at the scene and later released. The officer was not injured.
When these incidents occur, it is standard procedure for the Irving Police Department to conduct a criminal and administrative investigation and the Dallas County Public Integrity Unit to conduct its own separate investigation. Those investigations are currently underway, and no further information will be released at this time.
